Guest Lecture on Women Issues

Department Home Science of in collaboration with Department of Women Studies organised a guest lecture on Women Issues on 21/02/11. Prof. Shiv Chandra Mathur was invited for the same. Prof. Shiv Chandra Mathur is a public health specialist and is presently holding the post of Executive Director, State Health System Resource Centre; State ASHA Resource Centre; and State Child Health Resource Centre of Rajasthan under National Rural Health Mission, Government of Rajasthan, Jaipur in India.
 

Prof. Shiv Chandra Mathur gave his lecture on the topic Women Issues: Related to Health and Health System. He gave a brief note on the present health scenario, the loop-holes and all the possible outcomes of the same.

He discussed and touched many issues related to women health, emphasising the gender issues, reproductive health, care, and health of the growing girls especially adolescents.

 
 
Prof. Mathur also made the faculty members and the students aware about the current projects carried out in the field related to women, health concerns and the present MMR rates. He also made students and faculty members aware about the latest literature available and all the sources to achieve them. The lecture was attended by all the students of B.Sc. Home Science, Foods and Nutrition, and Women Studies.

On the occasion of Breast Feeding Week  i.e. on 3rd august 2011 a guest lecture was organized by of foods and nutrition .The topic of the lecture was “Breast feeding and its importance”. by Dr.Rajpreet Soni, Child specialist in Fortis Escorts Hospital, Jaipur. She expressed her views regarding breast feeding and educated students and staff members regarding composition of breast milk its benefits to the baby and to the mother as well as its importance of colostrum.

On the occasion of National Nutrition Week (1st -7th ) September,2011 a guest lecture
Organized by department of Foods and Nutrition on 5 September on the topic of how to lead a healthy life by Dr.Astha Kungar, Chief Dietitian, Fortis Escorts Hospital Jaipur.The lecture was attended by all the faculty members and students. She shared her experience about the meaning of Healthy Eating Practices and its Benefits. On the other hand, she makes her aware about the breakfast which is important to start up daily routine and snacks should be taken between the meals.

A guest lecture  on the topic of “entrepreneurship development” was organized by department of home science on 7th October 2011.The lecture was delivered by Mr. Shantanu Bhasin,Coordinator “Jobs Train” He gave a brief overview about how a person can develop into a successful entrepreneur.

A guest lecture on the topic of “International Exposure to artisans of Rajasthan by modifying traditional design to western form” was organized by department of clothing and textiles on February 2, 2012 .The lecture was delivered by Mr. Jeremmy Fritz Entrepreneur, New York. He shared his experience about how he got inspired to the traditional textiles of Rajasthan and what all measures and strategies he has been working on for the promotion of this art in other countries.
