Overview

Since its establishment in the year 1995, the Department of Home Science has been a center of excellence for teaching- learning and quality research. The department offers B.Sc. (Honors) Home Science, B.Sc. Pass course with Clinical Dietetics and Food Science and Quality Management as electives at the undergraduate level and M.Sc. in Foods and Nutrition, Human Development and Clothing and Textiles at the post graduate level as well as PhD in all the three streams. The department also offers Career Oriented and Skill Development courses (COSD/Add on) in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics (CND), Food Science and Quality Control (FSQ) and Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) at three levels – Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma.

The department is well equipped with laboratories spread over three floors for all the streams thus providing excellent practical experience and research facilities to the students and research scholars. The students also benefit themselves from various e-learning resources, latest books, national and international journals through the departmental library and shared main library.

The department is powered with highly qualified, experienced, dynamic, as well as compassionate faculty members specializing in various fields like Therapeutic Nutrition, Community Nutrition, Product Development, Guidance and Counseling, Intervention and Special Education, Clothing, Textile designing and Fashion Marketing.

As a part of the curriculum, in addition to class room teaching, students undergo internships and regularly present seminars, attend workshops and conferences which keep them abreast with the latest trends and developments in the field. The department ensures the overall growth and development of students and aspires to make them professionals who are ready to face the challenges.
