TWO DAY WORKSHOP ON RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURE

A two day workshop was organised in the Department of Home Science on March 6 and 31, 2017, for the students of BSc HSc IV semester as a part of their practical in course Residential architecture and interior enrichment. The expert for the same was Ms Kavita Mehta, a renowned architect of Jaipur who has been in this field from the past 20years. She is the first lady architect of Jaipur. She has handled various major projects under her.

The workshop on 6th march started with a floral welcome to Ms Kavita by Dr Ila Joshi. Chetana welcomed her by giving a brief introduction about her. Then Ms Kavita gave oral lecture on various types of projections like metric, orthographic and perspective projections. Ms Kavita explained the topics using black board diagrams. She made various diagrams from the room itself. Various angles of perceptions were explained to the students. Then the students were made to draw them in their files. Later she made the students draw orthographic projections of bed. She ended the lecture when all the students finished drawing of bed and clarified their problems. A vote of thanks was delivered by one of the students and a memento was presented to Ms Kavita as a gesture of regard.

On 31st March, Ms Kavita began the workshop with revision of what was done in the last lecture. From the base of the earlier lecture, she explained the students about the orthographic views of chair, table and three seater sofa. She drew them individually on the board and the students drew them in their sheets. Colouring was also done to show various angles of viewing objects. The students found the lecture very informative and learning for them.
