The students will be able to –

COCT85: Develop various patterns using grading techniques

COCT86: Create basic blocks for basic bodice and skirts

COCT87: Develop understanding of handling of different fabrics for garment construction

COCT88: Create samples of various garment components

COCT89:  Design and develop child garments using garment construction techniques

COCT90: Design and develop adult garments using various suitable fabrics

CONTENTS

  • Grading Techniques: Importance, introduction to different methods: Nested/Stacked and Track     method. Procedure for grading adult bodice, sleeve, trouser, skirt to various sizes.

·         Parts of a paper pattern                                                                                   

·         Decoding a pattern, symbols used, layout on different width of fabrics

·         Stitching the muslin mock-ups for                                                                30 hrs

 

·      Necklines (Scooped & Raised)

·      Collars (Flat, Raised, Stand & Grown on)

·      Sleeves (Set in & Sleeve bodice combination)

·      Pockets (In seam, Slashed, Patch)

·      Plackets

·      Yoke (Bodice & Skirt)

·      Skirts (Layered, Gored, Panel)

                                                                                    

·         Handling of different fabrics: stripes, checks, plaids, slippery fabric, Shear and uni-directional fabrics. Constructing the following garments on above fabric using appropriate seams, seam  finishing, plackets, pockets, fasteners, trimming & decoration       42 hrs                                                                                                       

·         Children:   Bu-Shirt/Shorts

                      Different styles of frocks

·         Adult:     One piece dress

                     Skirt & Top

                   Ladies Kurta & Salwar Kameez
