World Breast-feeding Week -Webinar- 6th Aug 2021

The Department of Home Science in collaboration with Rotary Club of Jaipur Gurukul organised a webinar to celebrate World Breast-feeding Week (1st-7th August) on the topic "Protect Breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility" on 6th Aug 2021. The speaker was Dr Veenu Agarwal, MBBS MD(OBGYN), MRCOG (London, UK), FMAS, Senior Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, Miracles Apollo Cradle, Gurugram. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Ila Joshi, Head, Department of Home Science and moderated by Ms. Vyoma Agarwal.

 

The speaker emphasized on the importance of breast feeding for mother and child, problems faced by working mothers in continuing breast feeding and solutions for them. She enlightened the participants with the concepts of Baby-friendly Hospital Initiative and lactation consultants, who are required these days as there are more nuclear families. She highlighted the steps that can be taken at the workplace and by the family in order to encourage and support breast feeding. The session ended with queries that were answered by the guest.

The session was enthusiastically attended by 82 students, faculty members and Rotarians.
