VISIT TO SURESH GYAN VIHAR UNIVERSITY

Report on Visit to Institute of Hotel Management, Suresh Gyan Vihar University

A visit to Kitchen and Cafeteria, Housekeeping Department of Institute of Hotel Management, Suresh Gyan Vihar University was organized for M Sc Home science (Foods and Nutrition) Sem IV and B sc H Sc Sem VI students as a part of their syllabi. They visited the University on 4th March 2016 escorted by one faculty member.

We were welcomed by Mr Sandeep Saxena, Assistant Professor, Institute of Hotel Management, Suresh Gyan Vihar University, Jaipur. We have visited various kitchens meant for different classes and different cuisines and during the visit we have seen equipments like freezer, oven, dough maker, grinder, high pressure cooking ranges, chimney, cooking range for chinese cuisine, food warmer, etc. We have also seen different type of cutlery, beaters, knifes, other small equipments used in Food Service Organizations. The demonstration kitchen, which was the centre of attraction was also visited by us. The Cafeteria made for the service was also visited by us. 

We have also visited the housekeeping department of the University. It was equipped with heavy machinery meant for washing, cleaning, ironing/ calendaring of linens and uniforms used in the Institute. The operation of the machinery was also explained by a faculty member. The use of various detergents and stain removal was also well explained to us. They have also shown various detergents used in hotel industry and its use in the industry. The Laboratory was also equipped with the display of Laundry Flow Chart of Operation, Co-ordination of Housekeeping with other departments and Organization structure of Housekeeping Department – Large Hotel Lastly, the visit was very fruitful to the students as it has enhanced the existing knowledge of the students. All of them have also enjoyed the visit.
