The students of BSc HScSem III escorted with the teacher Dr. NaliniTotuka, 24 October, 2018 to the Ladli Jaipur. Since 1993, i-india, an NGO (non profit) based in Jaipur, India, has been working for the welfare and educational needs of street children. These children have fallen through society’s cracksLadli is located in the poor desert city of Jaipur, India.

I-india began as the vision of two people, a Sociology professor, and a local teacher, Prabhakar and AbhaGoswami, both passionate about the rights of street children. It began with voluntary teaching in the slums. Every year i-india an NGO in Jaipur, India- improves the lives of approx. 4000 street children in Jaipur and around India, through its programmes including homes, vocational and academic teaching, street schools, medical care, and sanitation. Many foreign volunteers also come each year to teach English, Math, Dance, etc, or provide administrative support. The students were explained about the shelter home .

Many street children come to the centre through the phone support service, Child Line, or through our outreach staff at railway stations. Once a child has been housed in one of i-india’s homes, trained staff and teachers assist them with their emotional and academic education.

The children at Ladli  learn to study, live and  make jewellery and handicrafts - valuable skills in Jaipur.. Most importantly of all they gain confidence, hope and self-esteem. We believe that in addition to providing children education and employability, Ladli is a place where emotional trauma and the stresses of poverty can in some way be healed.

The shelter home provides food and shelter facilities to around 56 children. All the childre are taken up fom street after proper investigation.the quality of food is very well maintained . The hygiene of the rooms is also taken care of.

The ladli also provides the first aid facility to all the children. The students met the doctor. He sits in the day time and do necessary check ups time to time.Ladli is also a vocational training centre  which manufactures the clothes and jewellery on large scale.

Overall visit was very beneficial to the students as they have learned about the facts of life of street children.
