Sexual harassment has come to be widely condemned as a form of human rights violation, an infringement on life and liberty and a grave form of gender-based discrimination. Such behavior causes offense to dignity, gender equality, and fundamental rights.

A recent survey revealed that almost 97% college girls face sexual harassment at some point of life. In the backdrop of this, a need was felt to organize some activity in the University campus to spread awareness on a very crucial issue in their life. Poster making was thought to be the best way to express their views and thought about sexual harassment.

The Department of Home Science organized a ‘Poster Making’ competition for all the students of the university to commemorate the International Youth Day which is observed on 12th of August every year by the UN

The theme for the competition was ‘Sexual Harassment’. The students were asked to express their ideas through paintings, collages or sketches.

Altogether 68 students got themselves registered for the competition. Every registered student were provided with a poster number which they were asked to paste on the right side of their poster. It was done to avoid biasness in the judgment.

Students sat in the Home Science labs and shaped their creativity. They made beauteous posters, which yelled the theme quite loudly. They had brought all the necessary items as was notified earlier. It was lovely to see the enthusiasm of all the children and their thoughts turning into action. All the posters made by students were depicting their concern and consciousness towards the issue of sexual harassment.

The judge on the occasion was Mr Shwet, a well known artist currently working as an Associate professor with IIS University and Professor Sharad Rathore, the coordinator of NSS and Prof. with the IIS University.
