Visit to Prayas ; A special needs school

To celebrate children’s Day week, the Department of Home Science of IIS (deemed to be University) organized a Talent Hunt competition & Recreational activities in a special needs school, Prayas on 11 November 2022.  It is a non-profit, non-governmental organization catering to special needs children from BPL(below poverty line) families.

Seven students of B.Sc. (H), H. Sc, Semester V^th, and M.Sc H.Sc (HD), Semester I^st and III^rd and 120 children of Prayas participated in this activity.

Students learned about the functioning of a special need school and also interacted with their children.  The talent hunt competition was well received and almost all the students participated in various capacities. The recreational activities included games, physical exercises, and dancing which were thoroughly enjoyed by the participants.

In the end, a simple quiz was taken and prizes were distributed by Dr. Nalini Totuka and Dr. Sarika Khandelwal to its winners. Frooti was distributed to the rest of the students as a reward for their participation.
