Planning Activities For Various Age Groups ( Theory)

1. Understanding different approaches to learning with emphasis on “child as an active learner”
2. Thematic approach, Play-way method, activity method and project method
   Multi grade teaching, peer tutoring and cooperative learning.
3. Importance of promoting children to participate, ask questions, develop skill to observe and develop attitude of task persistence and problem solving.
4. Readiness For 3 R's- Definition and importance of readiness : Reading readiness, Writing readiness,  Mathematics readiness

1. Story telling- Importance, themes  and techniques of story telling (books, sand tray, flashcards, puppets, and role-play, masks), role in a child’s development.
2. Action songs, music & rhythm activities- Role in a child’s development, voice modulation,Rhythmic body movements -Dancing, Musical instruments from waste like old pots, tins, sticks.
3. Developmentally appropriate Practices& games, developing concept games, evaluation of prepared games and kits.

Planning, preparation and method of execution of Creative activity

1. Art and Craft Activities- Painting and graphics  (blow, block, wax, etc.), Decorating empty plastic bottles, boxes masks ,collage making from varied materials,
2. Modeling- Modeling with clay, dough, plastacine, saw dust.
3. Mask making, Origami, making simple toys and playthings,role in a child’s development.

1. Puppetry skills  and role in a child’s development.- Puppet making (from waste material, paper, glove, sticks, bottle, rod, finger, shadow, socks etc.),  manipulation exercises related to techniques of puppet manipulation, script writing for puppet skit, preparation of backdrop and sound effects required for puppet shows, presentation of show to target audience.
2. Creative drama-Meaning and values- Techniques involved in creative drama e.g. rhythmic movements, Pantomine, Characterization, improvisation story building, Process of scripting for creative drama.

Literary activity

a) Children’s Literature- Historical overview of the development of children’s literature in India and other countries, Types of children’s literature, role of literature in a child’s development, appropriateness and criteria for selection , evaluation of available children’s literature.

b) Values of books and reading in early years, developing reading habits.   

c) Writing Children’s literature - Principles and methods of effective writing, rules of grammar, sentence construction, paragraphing,  narration, sequence, logic.

d) Principles of analyzing literature, reviewing novels
