Physical, cognitive and creative capabilities and interests of children.
Impact of planned activities on various age groups.

Types of Activities
Story telling- Importance, themes  and techniques of story telling, use of aids in storytelling, role in a child’s development.
Songs, music & rhythm activities- voice modulation, role in a child’s development.
Planning and preparation of developmentally appropriate kits & games, developing concept games- testing of games & kits, evaluation and modification in prepared games and kits.

Unit III: 
Art and Craft Activity
Planning, preparation and method of execution of –
Art and Craft Activities- Painting, collage making from varied materials, clay modeling, mask making, origami and paper folding, making simple toys and playthings,  role in a child’s development.

Puppet making

Puppet making (from waste material, paper, glove, sticks, bottle, rod, finger, shadow, socks etc.),  manipulation exercises related to techniques of puppet manipulation, preparation of backdrop and sound effects required for puppet shows.

Children’s Literature- Characteristics of young readers, types of children’s literature, role of literature in a child’s development, using literature for educational and  therapeutic purposes.
Values of books and reading in early years, developing reading habits.
Writing Children’s literature - Principles and methods of effective writing.

Methods of parent education.
