Objective: 

This course will enable the students to-

  1. To Design and develop patterns using draping techniques.
  2. To enable the students to obtain perfect fit and harmony between the fabric & design of the garment.
  3. To provide skills of draping to understand the human body proportion to get the required shape and fit of the garments.

CO379:Formulate the draping techniques effectively to create foundation patterns on the dress form

CO380:Design and Develop various draping garments using dart manipulation techniques

CO381: Compile comprehensive practical record having collection of samples and women’s wear using various draping techniques and cultivate verbal communication skills to converse effectively with examiners

Unit I: 
CONTENTS

Pattern-making:                                                    (10 Hours)

∙ Hip length bodice

Draping: Basic Bodice Block- Front and Back, Skirt-front & back, Princess Line                                                                              (20 Hours)

Adaptation of Bodice with draping:                                                              

  • Manipulating dart excess at different locations
  • Dividing dart excess- Waist and side seam; waist and shoulder
  • Dart equivalents – Gathers, pleats and tuck darts
  • Asymmetrical darts
  • Intersecting darts
  • Princess line
  • Halters
  • Yokes
  • Cowl

Sleeves & Collars:Plain sleeve, Raglan Sleeve, Cape and Convertible collar.                                                                                     (10 Hours)

Garment Construction: Designing and Construction of one women's wear involving dart manipulation and handling of specialfabrics.   (20 Hours)
