Objective: 

This course will enable the students to :

1.                                             Understand an infant and his capabilities.

2.                                             Assess the physiological status of an infant.

3.                                             Promote developmental activities of an infant.

Contents:

1.                             Observing neonate- premature/ full term, low birth/ normal- making comparisons,  assessment of new born.

2.                             Observation and care of high risk neonate in ICU. Documentation of care taken and medical facilities provided in hospital and home.

3.                             Recording all round development of infants.

4.                             Observation of neonatal reflexes.

5.                             Evaluation of sensory capabilities of infants.

6.                             Scientific evaluation of birth related practices in local community- report writing.

7.                             Formulating activities for infants to promote development- Physical, motor, cognitive, language and emotional.
