Objective: 

This course will enable the students to-

  1. To gain knowledge of the significant development in production of textiles in the world.
  2. To assess similarities and dissimilarities in different civilizations in terms of production, Ornamentation and usage.
  3. To acquaint students with the prevailing designs of costumes worn by people of different countries during different periods.
  4. To present before them the historic importance and relevance of the costumes and knowledge regarding the creation of garments by taking inspiration from history

(Theory)

 

The students will be able to –

COCT75:Explain key techniques of textile history and apply these to the identification of textiles

COCT76:Relate the beginnings of the textile industry to ancient civilizations

COCT77:Evaluate  the design effects of textile masterpieces

COCT78:Develop  understanding of ancient and contemporary costumes of India

COCT79:Describe fabrics, techniques and drapes of different eras and will be able to introduce to today's fashion industry in a more creative way
