Objective: 

This course will enable the students to-

  1. To enable students to understand and learn methods of developing fabrics, using different fibers, yarn and fabric making techniques.
  2. To gain knowledge and understanding of fundamentals of weaving machinery and processes.
  3. To analyze different weave patterns and learn principles of creating designs through weaving.

The students will be able to –

COCT91: Create woven samples  for stripes, checks and towels

COCT92: Construct different types of weaves and their derivatives along with draft and peg plan

COCT93: Design & develop knitted sample with hand and flat bed knits

COCT94: Create designs, draft and peg plan for the types of weave.

COCT95: Develop skills of setting loom for weaving

COCT96: Develop understanding of weaving, knitting and non woven industry

CONTENTS                                                                                 

  • Collection of woven fabrics and their identification                                     10 hrs
  • Fabric analysis for design, repeat, draft, peg plan.                                        10 hrs  
  • Weaving: Setting up of a simple loom – winding, warping, drafting, and drawing in.     10 hrs
  • Sample preparation of various weaves on looms                                                 24 hrs
  • In terms of number specification and patterns                                                           8 hrs
  • Creating samples  for stripes, checks, towels etc                                                       10 hrs
  • Preparation of knitting samples (hand & flat bed knits)                                          8 hrs
  • Visit to weaving, knitting and non-woven industry                                             10 hrs
