This course will enable the students to :

  • Get acquainted with the various methods of studying characteristics and  behavior in various handicaps. 
  • Get acquainted with the various methods of  measuring the physical and intellectual capabilities of individual.
  • To become aware of the categories of children with special needs, their problems and their rights
  • Understand the problems of handicaps and their mainstreaming.

  2. Distinction between  impairments, disability, handicap.
  3. Causes  of various disabilities on individual.
  4. Significance of Early intervention and diagnosis of disabilities
  5. Legislations and act  for disabled in india-RCI act 1992, PWD act 1995 and National Trust  act (1999) and Mental Health Act (1987)
  6. Programs and policies for children with special needs-Ministry of SJE (Socila justice and empowerment ), Ministry of rural development, Ministry of Health, MHRD, Ministry of Labour and employment, Ministry of urban development, National Institute for disabilities.
