Objective: 

This course will enable the students to

  1. Understand the various disabilities to develop the knowledge about the capabilities of an individual.
  2. Apply the knowledge of techniques and solutions for improvement of handicap conditions.
  3. Understand the societal attitude towards handicap.
  4. Create the information material for the disabled.

Childhood Disability and Social action -Practical (Practical)

CO57: Design  educational/informative /developmentally appropriate material  and develop teaching material regarding various disabilities.

CO58: Develop the skills to use the psychometric tests and prepare case study of child.

CO59: Compile comprehensive practical records on disabled children and cultivate verbal communication skills to converse effectively with examiners

CO60: Construct teaching aids for differently abled children.

Hands-on activities, visit to organizations, planning and conducting workshop and awareness campaign

CONTENTS

Visits- Government, Private Institutions and Organisations (CGC, schools, NGO’s, Hospitals) working with children with disabilities.

Case profile of a child with disability  

Planning developmentally appropriate activities for children with disability , develop material/aids for that and conduct the activity in institutions dealing with disability.

Preparation of information materials for any one disability

Observations of Children with Disabilities/ Interactions with persons with disability to know the challenges faced by them

Generating awareness in community about disabilities

Media- exploring sources of information about children and their families using print and audio visual media

Select Psychometric tests (Raven’s Progressive Matrices, Test for Learning disability) and intelligence test (anyone)
