Objective: 

This course will enable the students to –

 

  1. Understand the concept of development
  2. Examine the physical, motor, and sensory development from prenatal to childhood
  3. Evaluate cognitive development during childhood years from different theoretical perspectives.
  4. Understand the socio-emotional development during childhood years.
  5. Apply the knowledge of various domains of development in understanding the developmental delay in children and plan intervention accordingly

CO8: Analyse the MTP card, APGAR & anthropometric score,cultural  practices related to pregnancy and reflexes in children.

CO9: Compile comprehensive practical records  on prenatal and childhood development activities and cultivate verbal communication skills to converse effectively with examiners

  • Film viewing and discussion on process of Ovulation, fertilization  child birth& reflexes - Report Writing
  • Assessment of new born child  through APGAR test
  • Plan& conduct infant stimulation program and observing its impact..
  • Anthropometric measurement of children from birth to 8years. Studying inference as per WHO norms
  • Assess the development of infant and children through checklist
  • Plan and develop teaching aid to facilitate development of child in different domains
  • Visit to child clinic
  • Cultural/ local practices observation related to pregnancy, child birth and mother-newborn care
  • Analysis of Mother-child protection card
