Celebration of International Literacy day

As September 8 was announced as International Literacy Day by UNESCO in 1966 to remind the international community of the importance of literacy for individuals, communities and societies, and the need for intensified efforts towards more literate societies. The Department of Home Science celebrated International Literacy Day with distribution of stationary items such as slate, pencil, eraser, sharpner, notebook etc. to needy children of Anganwadi of Kalyanpura slum. On this day around 22 children from Kalyanpura anganwadi centre benefitted from this donation drive with the sole aim to spread knowledge and light of literacy amongst every needy Child.
