visit to Royal Orchid

Place of visit- Hotel Royal Orchid, Tonk road, Jaipur

A batch of 3rd semester students of department of Home Science of IIS (deemed to be University) along with faculty member, Dr. Gargi Saxena visited Hotel Royal Orchid at Tonk road, Jaipur, Rajasthan.

The visit was mainly focused onto understand the procedures involved in a food service organization management. Ms. Neha Chaudhary there explained about the facilities and the departments available inside the hotel like meeting and banquet facilities, pool, room services, ATM cash machine, lounge, valet parking etc. Then further tour of the food production area was given by General Manager, Mr. Ajit Kumar, where he explained every single step in a food service organization from receiving of raw materials to serving food. He gave a detailed explanation about hygiene and sanitation practices followed in their hotel, different departments, equipments and technologies used for procurement of ingredients, there separation and storage. Then he introduced the staff members from different departments and their work, discussion was also made about the difficulties they face and there possible solutions during working in a food service unit.

Overall the visit helped the students to understand about the activities in a food service organization, departments involved and the precautions needed to take in a job. The whole visit was very informative and interactive and the students were mesmerized by their warm welcome.
