Aim: To observe and care of high risk neonate in NICU. Documentation of care taken and medical facilities provided in hospital. Students from the Home Science department's B.SC. (H) H.Sc. and M.Sc. (HD) H.Sc. semester I visited the Cradle Children's Hospital on October 9, 2023.. The students were reached around 11.00 a.m. The objective behind the visit was to observe the premature and small-for-date neonates as well as to learn about the procedure for taking anthropometric measurements and testing neonatal reflexes in the NICU and the medical services offered to them in the hospital. The NICU incharge, Mr. Satish Meena explained the fundamental details about the NICU and modern NICU equipments. Cradle Children Hospital, earlier known as Helping Hand Polyclinic. It is one of the best pediatric hospitals. The hospital is located at Vaishali Nagar. Their team of experienced and skilled neonatologists, intensivists, pediatricians, and nursing staff is available 24/7 to help pediatric patients and give them exceptional care. It has been listed in the successful hospital’s list over many years due to the best possible care and guidance to pediatric patients. They provide services like neurology, gastroenterology, neonatology, intensive care, ophthalmology, surgery, and all services related to child care .They have collective experience about 70 years. The NICU was directed by neonatologists and staffed by nurses, therapists, physicians, ancillary disciplines and specialists. It included premature baby, Complications during labor, breathing problems, Birth defects, infections, or the baby requires surgery, Low birth weight (Below 1.5 kg), a twin, triplet, or from other numerous births issue etc. The NICU at cradle children hospital is a modern 25 bedded unit fully equipped to care for newborns with complex medical problems. The nursery is a level II plus unit & is staffed by an array of specially trained & certified pediatricians, nurses including neonatal nurse practitioners, therapist & consultant specialists. The NICU in charge, Mr. Satish Meena made us visit the NICU. Before showing them the neonates, he explained about the types of neonates come in NICU, importance of APGAR score and anthropometric measurement. He also talk about the reflexes in neonates and their importance. After that he demonstrated the procedure of taking anthropometric measurement and reflexes in neonate with the help of a mild severe baby in NICU. He told us in brief about the medical care and facilities which were given to the neonates. He also discussed about the major modern equipments that were basically used for the neonates in NICU. There were babies who were suffering from serious health problems and thereby were no nasal feeding. Around 12.30 p.m., the visit finally came to an end after interaction with other hospital departments and expressions of gratitude from the instructor and students to the hospital's doctors, nurses, and administrators.
