Date:06March 2020
Name of the Counseling Center: Buddayan Counseling center, Jaipur
Address: Kaveri Path, Mansarovar, Jaipur, Rajasthan 302004
The B.Sc (H) H.Sc, Semester II students (Total: 4) of Home Science Department visited the Buddayan Counseling center on 06 March 2020. The students were escorted by Ms. Archana kumari and reached around 10:00 a.m. The objective behind the visit was to understand the rapport building techniques, counseling process and dealing with social stigma associated with counseling. Buddayan Counseling center was established in 2015.
The head Counselor of the Buddayan Counseling center Ms. Meghna interacted with the students. She dealt one by one with what exactly counseling process is and which type of client generally comes in their center. She explained various techniques for rapport building with the client such as building trust, communication, understanding body language etc. She also informed the students about importance of maintaining confidentiality, understanding pulse, goal setting for different client and planning for the next session.
The most important thing she discussed was about social awareness regarding counseling. If a person are referred to counselor or even if someone suggest the person to visit the counselor, the person himself/herself and their relative starts thinking that there is some mental problem. At last she mentioned that there is a lot to be done in the field of counseling including generating awaraeness about what actually it is and one should visit the counselor regularly whenever he/she feels slight change in their behaviour or mood or thought.
