Purpose of visit : 1. To make students aware about the societal attitude towards disability. 2. To provide exposure to students to the techniques and solutions for improvement of disability. 3. To enable the students to understand the working pattern of institutions dealing with disability.
Summary : - A Short visit to ‘Umang’, a special school (N.G.O.) was conducted on 3rd Sept 2019 by the students of B.Sc. (Hons) H.Sc. V Sem as a part of course “Childhood Dis-ability ans social action” (DHSC 514 B)
About the Institution : Chair Person - Bina Kak, Social worker and Director, Deepak Kalra – parent and trained professional. ‘Umang’ is registered and recognized N.G.O. reaching out to persons with Cerebral Palsy, Intellectual Disability, Autism, and Multiple Disability. It is an initiative towards re-habilitation of persons with disability through the suppory of parents and qualified team of professionals over 350 persons
Outcome : The visit was quite successful and informative for the students of B.Sc. H.Sc. V Sem. They understood the working pattern of the institution and got exposed to the techniques used for the improvement in different types of disabilities. By conducting various activities with children of special school, they got first hand experience in dealing with disabled children.
