A Report on Two Days Webinar on “Nutrition and Wellness During Covid-19
The Department of Home Science, IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur has organised two day webinar on ‘Nutrition and Wellness during Covid 19’ on 2-3 June , 2020. In the midst of a situation like the COVID-19 pandemic, it is common to feel overwhelmed and worried. Focusing on how to slow the spread of the virus is important to boost our immunity and revitalize our physical and mental health. However, identifying ways to manage our physical, mental and social wellbeing is also crucial. Feelings like insecurity, confusion, fear is very common and affect mental dynamics as well as out metabolism. It is imperative to not only identify our mental state but also acknowledge the existing feelings. Devising a balanced and personal approach is needed for basic components to a healthy lifestyle. In times of stress, doing what really matters should be well recognized and worked out for holistic well being of people. The webinar was focussed on mental health and nutritional wellbeing. A total of 230 candidates were registered foe the webinar but due to some technical error 153 participants could attend the first session and 170 participants attended the second session.
The expert for the first day session was Ms. Neha Tiwari. She is the founder Director of ‘Sachetataa’ and also an Audiologist and Speech Language therapist. The topic for her talk was “Maintaining Wellbeing during Covid 19”. The session was hosted By Dr Nalini Totuka, Senior Assistant Professor and Ms. Archana Kumari, Asst. Professor, Department of Home Science IIS Deemed to be a University. She talked about stress as an inevitable part of lifestyle during pandemic but most important for all of us is how do we perceive things and keep ourselves positive in this situation. She suggested few tips to be positive and mentally healthy at this time. Her presentation was followed by question-answer session.
On 3 June second session of Webinar entitled ‘Nutrition and Wellness during Covid 19’ was conducted. The Resource person for second day was Dr Medhavi Gautam and topic of her talk was ‘Diet, Nutrition and Immunity during Pandemic’. Presently Dr Gautam is Director of Medhavi’s Nutrifit clinic she has an experience of 15 years in field of Nutrition as consultant dietician. The session was hosted By Dr Swati Vyas Associate Professor , Department of Home Science IIS Deemed to be a University. Audience participation was overwhelming and approximately there were 170 of them on board. The duration of talk was approximately 1 hour and during this Dr Gautam highlighted role of appropriate diet in boosting immunity and how we can ensure regular supply of certain vitamins and minerals in our diet in order to keep us safe in this pandemic situation. Her presentation was followed by question-answer session.
