The Department of Home science (Human Development) organized a weekly celebration on the occasion of children’s day from 09/11/2022 to 14/11/2022, as a part of which a visit to Anganwadi, Kalyanpura, Sanganer was planned. The students of M.Sc., H.Sc (HD) and B.Sc. (H.Sc) visited Anganwadi under the supervision of faculty.
An Anganwadi (a courtyard shelter) is a type of rural child and mother care centre in India started by the Government of India in 1975 as a part of ICDS. These were launched with the objectives of improving nutritional and health status of children of the age group 0-6 years and laying the foundation for all-round development of children of rural areas.
The students planned and conducted ‘Origami art’ theme based competitive activities along with musical games and other recreational activities with an objective to promote fine and gross motor, language and cognitive development of children. Children participated with full enthusiasm and enjoyed the entire interactive celebration on the occasion of Children’s day.
Very young children (2-3 years of age) were also encouraged to take part and with the assistance of the students could accomplish some basic simple recreational activities. To encourage competitive zeal and boosting the morale of children, prizes, chocolates and biscuits were distributed.
Outcome: The visit was very rewarding and informative for students. By conducting various activities with children of Anganwadi, they got firsthand experience in dealing with rural children. The entire staff was very supportive & cooperative and was competent enough in maintaining the records & hygienic standards of Anganwadi.
