Objective: 
  1. To develop an understanding of methods and techniques used to analyze textile fiber, yarns and fabrics for end-use performance.
  2. To acquire knowledge and understanding of various structural properties of textiles and relate to end use fabric performance and product.
  3. To be able to analyze and interpret the results and predict the general textile testing.

COCT76: Execute various testing procedures at yarn stage and its relation to fabric
performance properties

 

COCT77: Relate the principles of fabric testing procedures with the functional, performance, aesthetic and comfort properties of textiles and fabrics

Unit I: 
Course Content:
  1. Moisture Relation testing – use of oven and hygrometer, determination of oven dry weight.                                                                                                                                8 Hrs
  2. Physical testing of yarn – Count, Twist, Crimp, Strength.                                                                                                                                                       12 Hrs                                          
  3. Physical testing of fabric- Thread count, Thickness, Abrasion, Stiffness, Drapability, Crease Recovery, Pilling, Tensile strength, Air permeability and Water Percolation.                                                                                                                                         20 Hrs
  4. Colour fastness to wash, light, rub and perspiration                                                                                           12 Hrs
  5. Determine the bursting strength of the knitted fabric                                                                                        8 Hrs
