Objective: 

 Course Objectives (COs):

This course will enable the students to –

  1. Impart knowledge about dyeing and printing techniques on fabrics.
  2. Understand the assessment of colour fastness of textiles
  3. Impart knowledge regarding pretreatments of fabric before dyeing.
  4. Develop and design surface ornamentation by using printing techniques.

CO254:Develop skills of dyeing using various classes of dyes

CO255:Print textile fabrics in different style using suitable dyes

CO256:Identify the suitability of various dye class for different fabrics

CO257:Evaluate the colourfastness properties of dyed fabrics using colour matching system

  • Cotton using direct, reactive, azo, vat, pigment & Natural Dyes
  • Wool and silk using acid, basic and reactive & Natural Dyes
  • Acrylic using basic dyes
  • Printing                                                                                           20 hrs
  • Direct Printing- Pigment colours
  • Discharge printing- Direct dyes
  • Resist Printing-Azo dyes
  • Colour Fastness of dyed fabrics                                                  20 hrs

  • Light Fastness
  • Crock/Rub fastness
  • Perspiration fastness
