Objective: 

This course will enable the students to-

  1. To understand the role of statistics and computer applications in research.
  2. To apply statistical techniques to research data for analyzing and interpreting data carefully.
  3. To apply statistical procedure to analyze numerical data and draw inferences.

(Practical)

 

The students will be able to –

COCT57:Identification of various types of data measurement tools/tests/procedures and understanding the concept of standardization and reliability and validity

COCT58:Develop skill to organize the data and effectively use appropriate quantitative and qualitative statistical software for analysis of data

COCT59:Draw conclusions and interpretations from the analyzed data

COCT60:Classify data on percentage basis and write report with tables and graphs

CONTENTS

Note:  Students should be given hand-on experiences to use appropriate software packages for selected statistical analysis.

  • Frequency distribution, histogram, frequency polygons, ogive.                                                                                                                                2 hrs
  • Measures of Central Tendency, Measures of Variation.                                                                                                                                         5 hrs
  • Coefficient of correlation, Regression and prediction.                                                                                                                                             5 hrs
  • Chi-square tests- Goodness of fit, Independence of Attributes 2x2 and rxcontingency tables.                                                                      7 hrs
  • Application of Student’s t-test for small samples- test of significance of single mean, difference in means.                                                                                             4 hrs
  • F-test for two sample variances.                                                                                                                                                                             3 hrs
  • Analysis of Variance- one-way classification, two-way classification with and without replication.                                                                                                                                                                                          4 hrs
