Objective: 
This course will enable the students to –
1. Plan and prepare diets for patients suffering from various diseases covered in theory.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to: 

 

 

CO42:Develop skills to plan and develop therapeutic diets for lifestyle and renal diseases.

CO43:Create counseling material for patients of chronic and renal diseases.

CO44: Outline the working of a dietary department.

Interactive Lectures, Discussion, Tutorials, Reading assignments, Demonstration, Team teaching

 

Learning activities for the students:

Self-learning assignments, Seminar presentation, giving tasks, Visit to dietary departments of hospitals

Class test, Semester end examinations, Quiz, Assignments, Presentation, Individual and group projects

 

 

CONTENTS : 
 
Planning and preparation of diets in the following diseases
1. Diabetes mellitus (with obesity/hypertension/hyperlipidemia) 
2. Renal diseases – Glomerulonepheritis, Nephrotic Syndrome, Chronic Renal Failure
3. Osteoporosis
4. Gout
5. Observation of a Dietetics unit in a hospital
