Objective: 

This course will enable the students

• To acquire knowledge regarding effect of various diseases on nutritional status

• To gain an understanding of the nutrient and dietary requirements of different diseases.

  • Diabetes mellitus (Juvenile and adult onset types),
  • Glycemic index, glycemic load
  • Type of insulin and their action
  • Oral hypoglycemic drugs

  1. Incidence, etiology, pathology and metabolic aberrations, clinical manifestations, complications and dietary management and counseling for Renal diseases –
    1. Glomerulonepheritis,
    2.  Nephrotic Syndrome
    3. Acute & Chronic Renal Failure
    4. Nephrolithiasis
    5. Dialysis
    6. Kidney transplant

  1. Nutritional care of hospitalized patients - Hospital malnutrition, screening and nutritional assessment of critically ill patient
  2. Significance of Anti Inflammatory foods
