Objective: 

This course will enable the students to

  • Develop and evaluate low cost recipes to combat malnutrition
  • To assess the nutritional status of subjects using anthropometric information
  • To conduct biochemical estimations and develop tools and nutrition education programme

 

Contents:

1. Development and sensory evaluation of various low cost recipes to combat

  1. Protein energy malnutrition
  2. Iron deficiency
  3. Vitamin A deficiency

2 . Assessment of nutritional status using anthropometric measurements for  different age groups

  1. Infant
  2. Preschoolers and school going
  3. Adolescents

3.  Use and interpretation of growth charts.

4. Determination of hemoglobin level in blood samples of any one age group.

5.Development of tool/ questionnaire for assessment of nutritional status

6. Planning a Nutrition and Health Education programme
