Guest Lecture by Dr Rati Mathur
A guest lecture was organised by Department of Home Science on 4th February 2015 on the topic ‘Metabolic Aberrations in Diabetes Mellitus’. The speaker was Dr Rati Mathur, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry, SMS Medical College, Jaipur.
She had focussed on definition and classification of Diabetes Mellitus. The regulation of different hormones leading to diabetes mellitus was also covered by her. She had also emphasised on the occurrence of signs and symptoms, the metabolism of different nutrients during diabetes mellitus. The pathology and pathological analysis was also illuminated. Ma’am had shared that the laboratory tests for the diagnosis of glucosuria and ketouria are must for diagnosis. She had also thrown light on the dietary aspects, like how the blood sugar level ac be reduced or controlled by dietary intake. So, overall it was a very enlightening and fruitful lecture both for the faculty members and the students
